Monster Markers

A brief note to tell you all that Kay from ABQ was right on target when she suggested I use larger stitch markers in Anice.  After circling Anice's knitting bag for two days, last night I sat down to give it another go.  As I came to them, I replaced the smaller, colored plastic markers with those huge black rubber ring markers, and combined with her advice on also counting back on the purl rows...voila!  I actually managed an hour's worth of rows without having to spend time digging around for dropped or gobbled stitches (or worse).  Thank you, Kay!

Now I'm off to work to check our notions department...I believe we stopped carrying those enormous markers because they weren't pretty and no one was buying them...diamonds in the rough, to be sure. ---Martie

Hee hee! Gobbled!! That sure is the right word for it. I am currently working on my first "real" lace (using laceweight yarn) and sometimes it's just that - WHERE did that stitch go?

Yes, I found another jumper this morning in the wee hours, as I was happily knitting along. They are problematic. This one was about 2" down, so I captured it with a safety pin...

Hi Martie
Thats the secret to successful, stress-free lace knitting - stitch markers. I was being a little too kind to myself, thinking I could get along without them. But now I'm whizzing along and not worrying about losing count - thanks Kay and thanks for the link you sent me.
Finally got a day of sunshine in England, so no knitting till this evening...

I'm so excited to hear it's helping you, too! They really have changed my entire outlook on this project...I have gone from dreading it to regretting I have to look so hard for that special quiet time to work on it.
You made me laugh about sunshine in England...the last time I was in England (far too many years ago to recount), it was fall, and London was hot hot hot the entire week I was there...and all I had was long sleeves and sweaters and boots!
