Today is my day to wrap up my stay here in California. Being the Princess of Procrastination, I always save all the good stuff for the last minute, including house cleaning.
This morning I decided that instead of waiting until mid-afternoon to tackle these tasks (and get all weirded out because I let it wait so long), I'd try something new: get it done really early while I was still a) partially asleep and b) getting my morning caffeine load on. It seemed to work. I had two bathrooms scrubbed from top to bottom, everything dusted, but alas...I fear I have stalled out part way through my least favorite task of all...vacuuming.
Luckily, we have one of those built in systems, so all I have to do is drag a long hose around the house, but I still just hate it. I've watched those programs on Oprah about people who have OCDs and can't vacuum their homes enough. Boy, I wish there could be some middle ground here. Maybe I shouldn't have fired the housekeeper whose only talent seemed to be vacuuming...

Martie,
You done good girl! I'd be ready for a nap after all that cleaning! LOL!
I hate housework of any kind and would love to be able to afford to hire it done.
That vacuum system sounds wonderful as my vacuum sits around in the way most of the time! I'm too lazy to put it back in the closet. I'm always vacuuming up after dogs and husband so that's why it sits out.
Hope your trip back goes smoothly!
Hugs!

Great music is the key to successful housework.
I hear ya sister! I'd rather do any other household chore than vacuuming. I hate it. No particular reason either.
I hate vacuuming too. I just can't stand lugging the thing around and bashing into the furniture because I'm too impatient to pull the vacuum carefully. I do agree that great tunes help with the housework. Especially cranked way up like you're a teenager!
Gapwhole & Courtney: Right on! I was listening to the Beatles this morning...the remastered music that was put together as the soundtrack for the Cirque du Soleil Show "LOVE", to be exact. For "cool down" music, it was Blossom Dearie. :0)
I agree! Music is the key to dreaded house cleaning. I am lucky to get 103.7 the Mountain out of Seattle on the computer here in Alamos. I crank and clean. If only I had a vacuum cleaner...........
Wow, Linda Lou...life without a vacuum...sigh. PS On radio, we have a good station here in Taos that live streams KTAO.com. Don't know if you can get it or not, thought I'd mention it.
My secret: a husband who does it for me! I do everything else...XOXO
You win, Penni!!
I was in Santa Fe and Taos last week - tried to meet up with some rug hookers, but it just didn't work out. Beautiful there!
