One week from today

...I will be waking up in the La Posada hotel in Arizona and heading west to my (temporary) home in California. I feel like I'm going off to summer camp, which is something I never did as a kid, but I expect this is what it would have felt like.

The piles of projects that are going with me are growing. One pile is composed of quilting fabrics (purchased when I worked in a quilting store in 1992), antique linens, and embroidery projects either never started or finished. A pile at the shop includes wool I intend to spin or knit. Last to pack will be a few clothes, my hiking boots, and some books.

We've had snow the last couple of days. It was like being inside one of those snow globes. Last night it dropped into the teens. Spring doesn't relinquish easily to summer in this part of the world.

Have a great weekend, wherever you are...I'm headed out to dye some wool for my summer's spinning!

Martie: I know you'll be busy out there, but do blog a bit to your friends, won't you?

Hi Jack: I know I've been just terrible about posting. The days have been so full getting things done and planning ahead, I've not even spent much time reading my favorite blogs (yours included), so when I land in CA next weekend, I'll have a week's worth of everyone's postings to catch up on, at least. I'm full of mixed emotions right now...lots of happiness about being able to go help the kids, lots of sadness to miss the summer in Taos, my little family here, my quiet life. We stood out in the yard this evening, listening to the wind in the trees, and I told Roger that even when I'm alone in our house in CA, I never feel alone, because there is so much noise all around. So...I'm transitioning, I guess. I promise to be back soon. Thanks for caring. Martie

Martie: I'll bet you are full of mixed emotions. Bittersweet. Listening to the wind in the trees. Wow, can hear it now. By the way, I stumbled across a blog on yarn, knitting, but also nature photos. Really good one. It is

Jack: thanks for the tip on the Canadian blog. One of my favorite blogs is www.islandsweet.blogspot.com. It's from a fellow spinner/knitter in Newfoundland...daily postings, short and sweet. I love her writing and her photos...in fact, so much so that I wrote to her and we have become cyber friends, and hope one day to meet.
