Saying goodbye

Meika Sue Von Rottenweiler
Nov. 13, 1999-April 6, 2011

A true friend who graced us with 11 years of unconditional love, friendship, and protection. While we love our other dogs and cats, I doubt she can ever be replaced. May she play in heaven with all the big dogs.

And now I'd like to take a moment to thank all of you for hanging with me these last few months. I plan to resume posting on a more regular basis, focusing on things of a much happier nature. It is time to start enjoying spring and the season of renewal!

We miss them so but our hearts have been strengthened. I believe we gain special blessings from our pets and our knowledge and understanding of the natural realm is deepened.
Blessings to you Martie and I am so glad to hear you will be blogging again!
Hugs,
Cathy G

Oh, what a tough time for you my friend. These dear sweet animal friends who have taught us so much leave joy and yet a void in their passing. My heart feels for your loss and Mr. Sunflower's , too. May that younger pup in your life have new lessons and love to help fill your dear girl's passing. Thoughts to you this evening as I read your news. Ebb and flow.

Thanks, DD. I know you know, all too well, what this pain feels like. Aren't we lucky to have had them in our lives!

You're in my continued prayers and I know God is holding you in HIS hands at this difficult time. I've lost beloved pets and it tore at my heart so deeply I felt I would never stop missing them until finally I could come home and smile at the good times. It took a while. The loss of a special person...oh so hard. But somehow we heal and are able to think of special moments we shared and laughed and treasured - Thank God! I made a "friendship garden" in my yard to sit and enjoy and think about people I've lost and smile. It really helped me when I missed them so. Wishing you hearts ease. Jennifer: Thank you so much for your thoughtful and heartfelt message. I love your idea of a friendship garden...to have a special place to sit and remember sounds truly comforting. XXXX Martie

I'm so sorry for your loss of Meika Sue. It just breaks my heart when our companions go. Eleven years of unconditional love -- that's what they give, isn't it? Wag of tail, smiling mouths and playful attitudes. It's not all for food, it's because they are our friends. Our dog, Yeller, an Aussie-Lab mix, waits until supper is over and he knows it's time to play with me. And, he'll grab a toy and invite me to play.

Martie, I'm glad to see you posting again. I thought there for awhile you were through with blogging completely and there was a hole where your work had been filling it up with good sense and fine writing.

Again, I am sorry about your loss and I hope it gets a little better every day although it will never go away.

Jack: Your words always make me smile. Thanks for your thoughts. I bet Yeller is a sweetie. My biggest comfort right now is our male Rottie, Haus, who, at 100 lbs., looks like the Rottie version of a great Dane. He loves hugs and kisses and is constantly by my side.
Yes, blogging got to be a bit overwhelming while many other things were building up. I was hugely relieved at first, then I realized how all my blog friends were in my thoughts daily, and how much I missed everyone. I always remember my mom teaching me "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all". Guess she was riding on my shoulders during my dark times and I felt it was too much to impose on all of you.

I am so sorry to hear about Meika. It is such a hard loss to go through. They are more than dogs, they are apart of the family. My heart goes out to you. She was a beautiful companion!

Thanks so much, Liz. You are so right about them being family members. Maybe sometime even closer! :0)
