Blogging

Stormy sky on a recent morning
While I don't post very often these days, it seems I'm running a continuous dialogue in my head of posts I would make on any given day.  Then I get too busy, or I think you might not really be interested.  Blogging has provided me with a format for sharing thoughts, pieces of my life, and a sense of community beyond my own, but I'm never quite sure why anyone follows along.  This, then,  causes me to think about the blogs I follow, and why.

I have a list of probably 30 or more blogs I try to keep current on.  Within that list I have a hard core group of you that have become friends (as much as we can be, with the miles between us).  There I learn about your days, your projects, your family, your holidays, what you're reading, and much more.  I love those things about your blogs, and that I feel a (corny alert here) closeness with you that has been built over time.   I share your happiness, successes, and sadness.  When I thought I would stop blogging last year, and tried, I realized I missed being part of your circle.

I follow blogs about rug hooking, quilting, dyeing, spinning, knitting and weaving.  With the exception of weaving, which seems to have fallen by the wayside, I am still actively enjoying these other crafts.  I post on some of what I work on and do a lot of things you don't see (like my donation knitting) because I wonder if you would be bored.  I have learned that I dislike (and will not read) blogs that go on for what would be many pages long if printed out.   I am just not a person who can spend that much time reading on line; I get edgy and want to get busy doing something else.

To end this rambling, I wonder:  what DO you really like to hear about?  Why do you follow my blog?  Since my postings don't focus on one particular topic, like quilting or rug hooking, I often wonder who is popping in and what keeps you coming back.  Just nosey.  Indulge me if you feel like it.  If you don't want to leave a comment here, please leave one on my e-mail address attached to this blog if you feel like it.  This is sort of like my own little survey with no prize at the end.

Thanks!

Marti,
My sentiments exactly! I often skim the blogs who get quite lengthy. I enjoy good photographs and close-ups of what people are working on! I'm always afraid of boring people too with the mundane, but I never tire of reading an opinion or outlook. One of these days I'm going to conquer my fear of expressing what I feel or think instead of what I think people want to hear.
Blogging is a freedom and a way to stay connected and I applaud each one who takes the plunge into the realm!
I enjoy your blog Marti!
I missed you so much when you tried to quit!
Hugs!

I have developed several "connections" with fellow bloggers - like you. I enjoy reading about whatever you have been up to. In fact I find I am steering away from some of the strictly focused blogs. Life is not strictly focused!
But I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes after I have posted several times in a row about nothing important (or worse - something stupid) I think Geez, Who cares?

So, I want to know what you are working one, what recipe flopped or scored, how the weather is, are you cranky or happy etc, etc.
Keep posting about anything!

Love this post...because we all have been there, more than once. If I'm overwhelmed, I can only read...not comment. Mildly overwhelmed, read and comment on that which moves me! LOL Cool, calm, and collected...I'll try to say something! I also have a "core group" where I'll comment no matter what. They are my main people...and actually most of them (but not all) are folks who were my first followers.
I love to hear about projects and see pics of such, but I also like to hear honest stuff too...what bugs us, what thrills us, what moves us...
I can't get through long posts...I try, I really do, but I get tired. So, I just move on. Speaking of which...this is really long! LOL
Keep writing, my friend...I'm reading!!

Manana baby.......manana........

I will say...as you well know.......I missed you terribly last year, when you thought you quit your habit of being our "entertainer"..........we love you as much as you love us! Or more!

Hi
I have the same issue. I have wondered who cares what I write or the projects I'm working on. I am not even sure if anyone reads it at all. However I post anyway. For me its like journal. I post on my everyday life. I did think that I should focus more on a subject, like rug hooking but how often can you post. sometimes it takes months to finish a rug. Anyway I guess my point is write about what happening in your life, what projects you are doing, happenings, etc...that's why I keep coming back. Hugs

I had to think for a moment... well... why do you???. :) It is a matter of connection. So many blogs I look at and never go back. Your blogs are interesting and warm, and I don't think it really matters what you write about. Just do what you are doing and write from your heart. Write about what ever crosses you mind... no need for a format, or a topic. I love to read about new things, and to read about life in another part of the country. It is nice to come into your world for a little bit, and feel your beautiful energy.
