First freeze?

Bob relaxing

Today was one of those gorgeous, picture perfect, fall days.  I can start to see groups of aspen turning color up on the mountains above us, and last evening as I drove into town I saw the sides of the mountains that run along town and on the pueblo land have big ribbons of gold on them already.  If you're coming to Taos Wool Festival, you should probably be sure to bring some warm clothes, from the way things look right now.

I have moved the unplanted foxglove and lilac plants into the greenhouse for tonight...I'm guessing we could have our first freeze tonight...just a hunch, haven't seen the weather report.  I just walked the dogs (at about 6:30 p.m.) and it was both windy and brisk.  I love how invigorating it feels at this time of the year.

Larry & Bob

Today I found Bob working on one of his stress reduction techniques, then later I caught a photo of him practicing along side Larry.  What a life.

TUESDAY MORNING, 7:00 A.M.:  It's 26F.  Good call on the plants!

Robyn: another black cat fan! At one time we had an entire caudre of black to white...all black, all white, one almost all black with white, and vice versa (Larry). Our vet told us years ago that the nicest feline temperaments they have observed come along with those color lines. Bob (our big black guy...all 20+ lbs of him) is VERY Siamese in his behavior and I have been told there is a regressive gene linking black cats to the Siamese. He's quite a character...he sings to his water bowl for long stretches...we think he's the tortured soul of Caruso!

Oh Martie, 26 degrees? Is that early for a hard freeze in your area?
Looks like your kitties enjoy a sunny window just as much as mine does!

Sigh... summer's over. Glad you put the plants undercover. We had two very hot days in a row Monday and today, but the temps are returning to more usual September highs, and the nights have been cool, though not quite to freezing yet.

Sad... summer's over. Good call on the plants! We have been having hot days and cool nights, but not as low as yours, yet. I wish I were coming to the Wool Festival; maybe next year.

Weds morning: the news last night says we'll possibly get high mountain snow showers the next couple of days...but warmer temps are due back by the weekend. Guess a low is sitting over us a few days. I may get a few more chances to be outside and soak up some vitamin D...

The aspens are turning? Sounds heavenly. And as for those cats, what about one that is all white except for a brown and white striped tail? I'm sure he's got some Siamese in him - he's a biter and a scratcher and worse yet, a tripper-upper! Got to stay on your toes around him!
