How do they do it????

Moms that have lots of kids, that is.  I am babysitting my two grandchildren this weekend and I found myself wondering, after a mere four hours yesterday morning, how my daughter in law has the strength and grace and sanity to do all that she does in a 24 hour period.  This is hard work!  One is 6, one is not quite 18 months...one is completely and utterly absorbed in games on my iPhone (I do not approve of so much of this, but yes, I've caved in, big time).  The little one, who walks like a little cartoon character, is all smiles and laughs and is just a hoot.

The Flying Macaroni Circus
But...just moving about is really a lot of work...car seats (I'm not doing so well with the buckles), making sure I have diapers, wipes, snacks, toys, you name it.  I am sure this would get a lot easier if I did it more often, but for now, I'm just tickled I get to be the Mimi, not the mom, and leave all this yard work to someone who is a whole lot younger and has a lot more energy!

This is why nature, so wisely, allows us to have children in our "younger" years. Have Fun!

I enjoy grandparenting, and find it ever so much less stressful than parenting. Rules are a lot more relaxed! And...you can give them back when you're too tired to deal with them!

I have lived for short vacation periods in Taos over the past years and often visit Santa Fe for several months at a time. We just returned to St. Paul after several months in Eldorado/Santa Fe. Wish I had known about your blog while I was posting on mine: http://mysantefe-kate.blogspot.com/ I hope to visit yours often now and will link to yours on my blog. Currently I am at http://visualstpaul.blogspot.com/ a not-so-subtle plug for you to come visit mine!

PS. Great lookin' grand-kid!!

Hi Marty, I love my grandson to bits but boy do I get tired. and yes trying to get them anywhere is a major production. ha. I was so tired of carrying tons of things back and forth that I went out and bought my own. Makes it much more easier now I just got to get Benjamin in the snowsuit and car seat. I swear i break a sweat. cheers

Haha! Macaroni is so yummy! If only I could still get away with eating it with my hands!
