Clouds

In the parts of Southern California that I lived in, clouds Library0001
(or at least, interesting clouds) were a rarity.  Moving to New Mexico has now filled that hole in my life.  Library0013
I'm not a big fan of summer, but the afternoon thunderstorms are well worth enduring the rest of summer's symptoms...wildfires, heat, and everyone's favorite, the no-see-ums.

I just came indoors after taking about 30 pics of this afternoon's clouds and decided to share some with you. Library0020
The ones with the trees in the foreground are looking north, towards Red River and Questa. Library0015
The others were hovering just to the west of us.  Let the rain begin!  ---Martie

P.S.  I am now headed outdoors to work on The Shawl in the last light of evening, and watch the sky show.

Hi Mandie: do you get storms like this where you live? I've never been there...hoping to finish The Shawl next week when I have some time alone...
Bennie: Get back here! XOXO

Awesome clouds, Martie! There's nothing like a good thunderstorm once in a while, but watch out for the lightning!

I heard once that NM has one of the highest lightning death rates. This summer, we've had some so strong and close by that the house has rattled like an earthquake. A big ponderosa pine near our house has been hit more than a few times but continues to survive (and, thank heavens, has not caught fire). :0)
